Toyota Racing Weekend Recap

WORSHAM CLOSES IN ON FUNNY CAR POINTS LEAD WITH SECOND CONSECUTIVE VICTORY

In Sunday's NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at the Bristol Dragway, Del Worsham wheeled his Alan Johnson Al-Anabi Toyota to its second straight Funny Car victory. The run was the quickest of the entire weekend and gives Worsham a tight hold on second place in the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series standings.

It has taken just eight races for Worsham to collect two wins and establish the Aaron Brooks-led Al-Anabi team as one of the favorites for the NHRA championship. "It's just a great car, the best one I've ever had," said Worsham, who once fielded his own team with father Chuck Worsham from 1990 to 2008. "There was a time when I was happy to just to qualify because it was enough money to get me to the next race. I was always involved with tuning our car, and I used to think we made a lot of horsepower. This is a lot of horsepower."
