Toyota Racing: Two Toyota Wins Top Triple Weekend

Toyota drivers at Texas Motor Speedway and Nashville Superspeedway were able to make history when they got to victory lane in this weekend’s NASCAR® races while a Camry driver recorded a top-three finish at Pocono Raceway.

Tundra driver Todd Bodine made history in Friday night's NASCAR® Camping World Truck Series™ (NCWTS) race in Texas when he became the first driver in series history to win five races at the same race track. This was Bodine's second victory in 2009, having also won the season-opener at Daytona, and 17th triumph in 123 NCWTS races. He led the field twice -- for 52 laps around the Texas oval -- on his way to victory lane.

Camry driver Kyle Busch earned his first career victory at Nashville Superspeedway in Saturday night's NASCAR® Nationwide Series™ (NNS) event. Busch started from the pole and led the field four times for a race-high 173 (of 225) laps in his Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Camry on the 1.33-mile concrete oval.

Brown Retakes Top Fuel Points Lead With Fourth Final Round

Second-year Top Fuel sensation Antron Brown reclaimed the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series points lead with his fourth final-round appearance of the season. Driving the Toyota-supported Matco Tools/DirecTV dragster, Brown finished runner-up at the 12th annual Route 66 NHRA Nationals after one of the closest races of the day.

In Funny Car, Cruz Pedregon just missed putting his Toyota in its first final of 2009 after sweeping the final three events of the '08 season en route to the championship. He advanced to the semifinals for the third time this season, but fell short of a first final when brother Tony produced low e.t. of the meet, 4.06. Cruz was just a car-length behind with a 4.11.

Toyota Racing Weekend Recap

NHRA: Dixon Rebounds For Second Top Fuel Victory Of 2009

At the O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka, Larry Dixon snapped his "mini slump" and got back to winning ways with the Toyota-supported Al-Anabi Racing Top Fuel team of drag racing icon Alan Johnson.

"It's great to do it again," said Dixon, who last won six races ago in Gainesville. "You might say that getting through the early rounds has been a little tough lately."

In the final, Dixon unloaded his best run of the day -- a 3.97 for a come-from-behind decision over Millican, who owns six IHRA championships but has never won an NHRA event title.

Toyota Racing: Reutimann Wins Coca-Cola 600 for First Cup Win

Toyota driver David Reutimann won his first career NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series™ (NSCS) on the same day the Toyota Camry Hybrid Pace-Car made its debut, highlighting a rain-soaked weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway that saw both the NSCS and NASCAR® Nationwide Series™ (NNS) races shortened due to weather.

In Monday's postponed NSCS race, Reutimann benefited from a pit road gamble as crew chief Rodney Childers kept the Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) No. 00 Aaron's Dream Machine on the track while others pitted, before persistent rain forced NASCAR® to call the race after 227 of 400 laps were complete.

"It certainly wasn't the prettiest win, but somebody has to win these things," said Reutimann, following the race. "Rodney (Childers, crew chief) made a great call and told me to stay out. We just stayed out and took a gamble. When you envision yourself winning your first Sprint Cup race, you envision it a little bit different. It’s so hard to win these deals that we’ll just take them any way we can get them."

It is MWR's first victory as an organization since joining NSCS competition at the beginning of 2007, and Reutimann's third career NASCAR® victory across all three national series. He won a NASCAR® Nationwide Series™ (NNS) race at Memphis in 2007 and had a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series™ (NCWTS) win at Nashville in 2005.

To view the entire story and see how the rest of the Toyota drivers did, please visit Toyota Racing.

On Thursday, May 28, be sure to check out Toyota Racing for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes video highlighting the Toyota Camry Hybrid Pace-Car of the 2009 NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series™ race, the Coca-Cola 600, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Toyota Driver Brian Vickers will take you around the track and show you what it's like inside the first hybrid to serve as the offical pace-car for an entire NASCAR® race.
